Assignment Due 9/17: Choose a quote from Bourne and write it out in your blog. Under that write your interpretation of what you think the author is trying to say and explain that. Then, after that write out your own explanation of the meaning of this passage and why you chose this specific quote and how it relates to this class.

There were so many things he wrote that were so interesting, but I will go with this one.
"......and the Anglo-Saxon element is guilty of just what every dominant race is guilty of in every European country: the imposition of its own culture upon the minority peoples."
I think that what the author is trying to say is that any immigrant that comes to live in the united states is expected to assimilate into the American culture so that they blend in and not stand out.

Like I stated in the beginning, there were so many things Mr. Bourne wrote that were so interesting and that I can see its relevance in society. Like his statement "They merge but they do not fuse." I see the relevance of these two statements all around me, there is a rainbow of cultures and ethnicities here and yet most of them do not care to blend or "fuse" with other cultures, possibly due to their own beliefs.

college is another institution where the diversity of cultures and ethnicities is huge. I think this quote pertains to this class because diversity is apart of our lives and the politics of the world.
